Payments can be made by cash or bank transfer and paid either weekly or in advance as a block.

Sessions cancelled with less that 24 hours notice may still be charged.

I only tutor from my own home in Whins of Milton in Stirling.
I have a office space with all the resources that we might need in any given session.
Parents normally drop off students and return after an hour, however I am happy to have an extra chair available in the office if you would prefer.
You should be aware that we have a cat, in case you have allergies.

I am available for maths tuition weekdays after school.  I occasionally will be able to take S6 students during the day if they have a free period.
Over exam leave and some holidays I will have greater flexibility to allow for extra sessions, or spaces to be moved to fit better with exam timetables. 
Please get in touch for current availability as my spaces do fill up quickly.
Normally students stay for one hour and have the same slot each week.
Things happen so if you need to cancel please let me know in good time.

Each student is different and have their own unique needs, requirements and problems, so I tailor each session on a individual basis.  An average session could include:

    - Quick starter questions to revise facts

    - Talking and working through problem topics

    - Looking at layouts and showing appropriate working

    - Exam questions

    - Topic specific questions

    - Understanding definitions for mathematical terms

    - Going over homework (assigned by me, we do not do homework assigned by the school)

    - Exam techniques

    - Explaining the theory of a particular topic
    
    - Spending time building foundational skills or gaps in knowledge

Tuition works best when the student is fully engaged and willing.  It can be a waste of time and money to send a young person to tuition who is not happy with the arrangement.  Therefore I ask all parents to ensure their children are fully on board, as I do have the following expectations:

- The student should be striving to do their best.
- The student should engage fully with every lesson.
- Phones should be kept in bags or pockets (unless needed to show me information relevant to our session).
- Tuition should not replace time spent in personal study, every student should also be spending time regularly working on their maths in their own time.  Ultimately it is their responsibility to how much effort they put into the subject and this will have a bearing on how well they improve. I am happy to help guide students to resources they can use.
- The student should complete homework given by the school and I would strongly advise working on the home learning recommended by myself.
- If a student does not understand something they should ask for help, mistakes and questions are very welcome.
- If the time spent is not helping the student, we will approach things in a different manner or consider finding another tutor if necessary.
- Tuition sessions will not be spent doing homework, this should be the students own work.
